It's been a delayed season because of all the rain we've been getting in Alberta. Here in central Alberta we've been fortunately spared the flooding that has been experienced elsewhere on the prairies. But it has made opening the trailer site for the season problematic.Â
Nonetheless, we are here now and so very happy.
When we arrived in the second week of May we were greeted by a nesting goose in one of the veggie planters. She was not happy to see us. After we discovered her presence we gave her a wide berth and watched her and her gander husband from the window.Â

She has since hatched four goslings. We named them Hewy, Dewey, Louis... and Bob. You can see more about the hatching adventure and a video of the four leaving the nest on my personal Facebook page, Gertie at the Gulch. They come by to visit regularly, mom and dad proudly corralling the four young ones.
This year will see a slightly different travel schedule from previous years. We move house in September from a townhouse condo to a bungalow. Said bungalow comes with front and back yards in need of maintenance, something the condo HOA did for us.
The move was a good one, though, as the stairs in the townhouse had become increasingly difficult for my 72-year-old body to manage. I absolutely love living on one floor!
Summer of 2026 will see us return to Edmonton on Wednesday each week, and spend two days on order processing and shipping, before returning to the Gulch. If the forecast is to be believed, it will be a welcome respite from the city heat.
