On a cool winter day, there’s nothing more comforting than a rich and hearty bowl of stew. Epicure's Classic Beef Stew Seasoning makes a rich, hearty, savoury stew seasoned with rosemary, thyme and a hint of mushroom.
This one-pot, big-batch blend makes it easy to get the flavour just right with a thick gravy and meltingly tender beef and veggies. Perfect for weekend get-togethers, après ski, or an easy set-it-and-forget-it meal on a busy weeknight!
Prep tips:
- Add simple ingredients: stewing beef, oil, veggies (carrots, potatoes, peas), tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and water
- Throw in some bay leaves while cooking for extra flavour
- Browning the beef (see recipe) can be optional, but keep in mind that without browning it, you will lose the extra depth of flavour
- Add a splash of dark beer to the stew along with the other liquids while cooking to add a rich, malty flavour
- Use low-sodium beef broth instead of water for more flavour. Try Better Than Beef Broth
- Try a good quality beef chuck roast instead of the stewing beef cubes for a more tender and flavourful stew
